77 mm of rain in Dhaka in 24 hours, may decrease in the afternoon

The capital Dhaka received 77 millimeters of rain in the 24 hours from 6 am on Tuesday to 6 am on Wednesday, the Meteorological Department said.

The Meteorological Department says that the sky in Dhaka will remain cloudy throughout the day today. There will also be rain. However, the rain may decrease in the afternoon.

The Meteorological Department has said that there will be rain in four divisions of the country today. The rain has caused flooding in the low-lying areas of Feni.

Meteorologist Toriful Newaz Kabir of the Meteorological Department told Prothom Alo this morning that it is likely to rain throughout the day in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal divisions. However, the rain in the capital may decrease in the afternoon. There is a possibility of less rain in the capital today compared to yesterday.

Rain has been falling in various parts of the country for the past two days due to the influence of low pressure and monsoon winds in the Bay of Bengal.

The three coastal divisions of Khulna, Barisal and Chittagong received the most rainfall. Feni received 379 millimeters of rain from 6 am yesterday to 6 am today, according to the Meteorological Department.

Meteorologists have said that the rainfall trend in the country is likely to decrease from tomorrow, Thursday. They say that the rainfall is predicted to increase again from next Sunday.

Due to rain, the water levels of the Padma, Jamuna and Brahmaputra rivers have increased in the last 24 hours. It is likely to increase further today.

Sources from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center of the Water Development Board said that even if the water level of the major rivers increases, there is little risk of flood situation. However, water has already entered Feni town due to the increase in the water level of the Muhuri River in Feni. Several areas have been flooded. There is a possibility of water receding there today.
