Due to very heavy rains, most of the roads in Feni city have been flooded with knee-deep water. Local residents, students and pedestrians have been suffering due to this. The water levels of the Muhuri, Kahua and Silonia rivers in Feni are near the danger level due to rain water and hill erosion. Two shops in the Fulgazi area have been submerged in the river after the banks of the Muhuri river broke.
According to the district meteorological office, 347 millimeters of rain was recorded in Feni in the previous 24 hours till 12 noon today, Tuesday. This is the highest rain record in a single day in the current monsoon season. Officer-in-Charge of Feni Meteorological Office Md. Mojibur Rahman confirmed the matter. He said, ‘There is a possibility of moderate to very heavy rain in Feni for the next two days as well.’

Talking to residents, it was learned that various areas in Feni city including College Road, Academy, Kalabagan, Hospital intersection, Rampur Shaheen Academy area, Pathanbari, Petrobangla, Nazir Road, Shahid Shahidullah Kaiser Road have been waterlogged due to rain.
Today, at around 11:30 am, when I went to Shaheed Shahidullah Kaiser Road in the city, I saw that the water was knee-deep in some places. In some places, it was waist-deep. Except for one or two rickshaws, other vehicles were stopped. People were walking to various destinations including their workplaces through the water. Similarly, students were going to schools and colleges.
Raisa Akhtar, a graduate student of Feni College, was interviewed on the road. She said, “The entire road is submerged due to the rain. I am walking through the water and wearing wet clothes to go to college. I am forced to go because I have exams at the college.” A rickshaw puller named Abdul Jabbar said, “The water is up to my waist in some places. In this situation, it is very difficult for passengers to cross the road in rickshaws. The risk of accidents is also high.”
Abul Hossain, former chairman of Feni’s Fulgazi Sadar Union Parishad, said that the water level of the Muhuri River has risen due to heavy rain since Monday night. Two shops in the area were swept away by the water current. The Fulgazi-Rajeshpur regional road has also become risky, so traffic has been stopped since this morning.
