An Alphabet Festival and Handwriting Competition were held in Taltoli, Barguna, to commemorate Shaheed Dibosh (Martyrs’ Day) and International Mother Language Day. The event took place on Friday, February 21, at 3 PM at the Shaheed Minar premises of Taltoli Government Model Secondary School, jointly organized by Dhoritri Rokhhay Amra (DHORA), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, the Payra River Hilsa Conservation Committee, and Taltoli Charukala Academy.
More than 200 students from various educational institutions participated in the event. As part of the competition, children showcased their creativity by writing selected verses from songs dedicated to International Mother Language Day and crafting different alphabets using clay.
The event was presided over by Parimal Chandra Sarkar, Head Teacher of Taltoli Government Model Secondary School. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Umme Salma, attended as the chief guest. Special guests included Mahbubul Alam Mamun, Senior Joint Convenor of the Upazila BNP, Mia Riazul Islam, Member Secretary of the Upazila Jubo Dal, and Khairul Islam, President of the Taltoli Press Club.
Also present at the event were Mostafizar Rahman, Cluster Officer of SCMF (SDF) Project, A. Majid Zomaddar, Upazila Scouts Commissioner, Assistant Teachers Lutfunnahar Sonia, Marufa Akter Mukta, and Shamima Nasrin, Faisal Ahmed, Rafiqul Islam Antar, Founder and Director of Taltoli Charukala Academy, Arifur Rahman, Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh (Taltoli-Amtali), as well as journalists and environmental organizer M. Milon and Mostafiz.
