Sharmin Akhter Sumi in her speech said “With the slogan ‘Tiger growth, Sundarbans prosperity”, we celebrate the World Tiger Day. Awareness among forest dwellers and adjacent communities is essential for tiger conservation. Agriculturist Mohammad Shamim said “The tiger symbolizes our bravery and pride—it’s the official logo of our national cricket team. Saving the Sundarbans is key to saving the tiger.” Sheikh Mohammad Noor Alam said over the last 25 years, 30 tiger deaths were recorded—only 10 died naturally, while 14 were killed by locals. We must resolve human-tiger conflict and become friends of the tiger. Speakers emphasized protecting the Sundarbans from climate impacts and pollution. Poisoned water is causing tiger fatalities due to disease. Authorities must prevent toxic fishing practices and illegal tiger trafficking. A coordinated plan is needed to protect this endangered species. Before the meeting, a vibrant rally was held. Afterwards, prizes were awarded to children who participated in a drawing competition themed on “Sundarbans’ Tigers.”
