A global climate strike demanding urgent climate justice was held on April 11, 2025, Friday in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka. The strike was jointly organized by Dhoritri Rokkhay Amra (DHORA), Waterkeepers Bangladesh, 350.org Bangladesh, and several other organizations committed to environmental protection and climate action.
The hour-long demonstration drew the participation of climate activists, environmental advocates, and community organizers from across Bangladesh. Key participants included Md. Ikbal Faruk, Research and Implementation Manager at Waterkeepers Bangladesh; Mamun Kabir, Publicity Coordinator of DHORA; Mohammad Delowar Hossain, Pekua Upazila Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh; Md. Shahidul Islam, Kutubdia Upazila Coordinator; Alauddin Alo, an environmental organizer from Chakaria; and Amanullah Parag, South Asia mobilisation coordinator at 350.org.
The strike was part of a broader global movement aimed at raising awareness and demanding climate justice worldwide, aligning with the global Fridays for Future initiative. Participants held placards, banners, and chanted slogans emphasizing the right to a livable planet and equitable climate policies.
