A special award ceremony took place on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Patharghata College auditorium, jointly organized by Dhoritri Rokhhay Amra (DHORA) and Waterkeepers Bangladesh. The event celebrated Lion Md. Nasir Uddin Ahmed, a resident of Gyanpara village in Charduani Union, Patharghata Upazila, Barguna, for his remarkable efforts in environmental protection.
Nasir Uddin Ahmed, Managing Director of Hataki Crop Science Bangladesh Limited, was presented with the prestigious Shobuj Sathi Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to environmental conservation, particularly for planting 10,000 palm trees in the coastal region of Patharghata. In addition to his long-standing dedication to social work, he has actively worked to protect coastal embankments and promote palm tree plantation as a natural safeguard for the environment.
The ceremony was conducted by Shafiqul Islam Khokon, Coastal Investigative Journalist, Researcher, and DHORA’s Patharghata Upazila Coordinator. The event was presided over by Assistant Professor Chandra Shekhar Swarnakar.
Principal Mohammad Mohsin Kabir of Patharghata College attended as Chief Guest. Special guests included Mirza Shahidul Islam Khaled, Executive Director of Sankalpa Trust; Assistant Professor Shamsul Alam and Lecturer Almas Hossain of Patharghata College; Mushfiq Arif, Member Secretary of DHORA Barguna; and Nazmul Haque Selim, General Secretary of the Patharghata Press Club.
In an emotional acceptance speech, Nasir Uddin Ahmed remarked,
“This is the greatest honor of my life. It inspires me deeply and will further energize my efforts. This recognition is not mine alone—it belongs equally to my fellow comrades. I wholeheartedly dedicate this award to them.”
