Road rally to stop industrial pollution in Habiganj

Dhoriti Rokhhay Amara (Dhora) and Khowai River Waterkeepers inspected and held a road meeting in the areas affected by industrial waste pollution in Habiganj. On Friday, Dhora’s member secretary Sharif Jamil led a road meeting after inspecting the Satparia area of ​​Madhabpur upazila. During this time, environmental activists called for an end to industrial pollution.

During the visit, the delegation witnessed the horrific picture of pollution in the villages of Satpariya area. The local people narrated the death of cattle and the failure of crops in the fields due to exposure to polluted water. The visit revealed that the pollution of this canal has initially directly caused a massive humanitarian disaster in four villages. This pollution has spread to the Meghna River through the Balabhadra River.

Sharif Jamil, member secretary of Dhara and coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh, said, “Industrial pollution must be stopped immediately.” Habiganj Press Club founding president Mansur Uddin Ahmed Iqbal, writer Tahmina Begum Gini, Khowai River waterkeeper Tofazzal Sohel, environmental activist Abdul Qayyum, and others were present at the time.
