On April 27, 2025, Sharif Jamil, Coordinator of Waterkeepers Bangladesh, participated in a high-level discussion in the Philippines focused on establishing regional hubs for the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature (GARN). The initiative aims to decentralize and strengthen global advocacy for recognizing and protecting the inherent rights of nature. These hubs will serve as vital platforms for international collaboration, enabling communities and organizations to share knowledge, strategies, and best practices. Jamil emphasized the importance of these hubs in promoting eco-justice, enhancing community resilience, and fostering cross-border solidarity to safeguard natural ecosystems worldwide.
